I own a 2022 subaru crosstrek premium and with my car payments coming to a close in about a year, I wanted to get into modifying my car with more off-road readiness/capabilities and was considering skid plates as one of my first purchases. I decided to splurge a little bit and spend it on a skid plate package for my subie. I was considering other brands but ultimately decided on primitive because for one, they are a select few who actually ship it to where I'm at (outside the 48 states) and I find the thickness (3/16") and weight for the full package ideal for my setup.
Shipping took a bit, about 2 weeks. The most difficult was installing the front skid plate because I didn't really had that much clearance to work with, even with my car elevated on the ramps, and hoisting and keeping it in place to screw the bolts was very tiring. Other than that, all's good! There are instructions included but I mostly relied on YouTube tutorials to install. It took just under 4 hours to do and if I had a prying tool (rather than a flathead screwdriver about half the size of my hand), definitely would have finished it faster in about 3 and a quarter. Note if you are going to purchase the full skid plate package, I highly recommend after taking out the splash shield and control arm brace, that you put on the mid armor skid plate first before the front skid as it does cover some bolts. Another note, as someone who rarely is handsy/mechanical with cars, should be easy to do on your own with the required tools.
The only knock I have is that the front skid plate does leave the sides of the engine bay exposed. Might have to do a DIY to see if I could cut the old sides of the splash shield. Overall, I'm happy how well it turned out!
